MARTINSBURG, WV
- The 12th annual Home
Show got underway this weekend; it showcased more than 200
exhibitors.
The Eastern Panhandle Home Builders Association expected more than
40,000 people to come to the Martinsburg Mall this weekend to see
what residential builders and vendors have to offer. The theme this
year is using environmentally friendly products for the home.
The association is made up of more than 300 members. There are
exhibitors ranging from banks to subcontractors to landscape
architects.
"We get about 60 to 70 consultations out of this show, which
basically we fill-up for the year in our job and design and
installation. So, we have great success with the show," said Kevin
Robinson, R&L Landscape Center.
Robinson said this year seems to be the biggest year for the show.
"Each year, I think to me they grow a little bit more. This year I
think they've sold out. The most they've ever had is this year,"
said Robinson.
The theme this year is building green.
"This year exhibitors in the show have products in their booth or
can tell you about how their products are more environmentally
friendly," said David Hartley, Eastern Panhandle Home Builders
Association.
The show provides seminars like solar paneling your home, and due to
popular demand, a silent auction for a good cause.
"It goes to the Builders Association. We're a non-profit
organization, but we support Habitat for Humanity as our
organization, so we built a house last year," said Hartley.
Show organizers said the Martinsburg Mall is a great location to
hold the event. There is also an area outside for vendors to
display cranes and trucks.
