The award ceremony took place in Charleston as part of the WVEC's annual E-day festivities. The award recognizes outstanding accomplishment in the area of green entrepreneurship. Mike McKechnie and his brother Pete McKechnie own Mountain View Builders, LLC and have been building houses in Morgan County for more than 10 years. Located in Berkeley Springs, Mountain View Builders, LLC is committed to designing and building homes that incorporate renewable energy and sustainable building processes, including but not limited to solar and geothermal technologies. The mission of the West Virginia Environmental Council is to facilitate communication and cooperation among citizens in promoting environmental protection in West Virginia, to assist in organizing grass roots groups, to facilitate interaction among established environmental organizations, and to correspond with all appropriate local, state and federal agencies involved in the management of West Virginia's environment.
