Mountain View Solar is an organization, set up by Mountain View Builders, to further its mission of designing and building homes that incorporate renewable energy and sustainable building processes. The main project of Mountain View Solar is the Mountain View Solar House, which serves as an informational and educational resource to encourage the local and wider community to become energy independent. The Mountain View Solar House illustrates that solar and renewable energy technologies are not out of reach for today’s homeowner. The Mountain View Solar House is currently under construction. Upon completion, Mountain View Solar will offer classes, workshops, tours, and other educational opportunities to the community at-large. The house was originally designed and built by the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth for the 2005 Solar Decathlon in Washington, DC. To learn more about the Mountain View Solar House, please click on the “MV SOLAR HOUSE” link at the top of this page. The house was funded in part by grants received from The U.S. Department of Energy, The Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust, The Provost’s Office at UMASSD, The Chancellor’s Office at UMASSD, The Henry H. Crapo Charitable Foundation, The Upstream Foundation, and Aaron LeBeau & Waters Tech Corp Mountain View Solar is in the process of becoming a 501(c) (3) (non-profit) organization. Once non-profit status has been approved, all financial contributions and in-kind donations will be tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
